      Аннотация: The temporomandibular joint is a complex synovial joint that is frequently referred to as TMJ. There are two TMJs, one on each side, working in unison. The name TMJ is derived from the two bones which form the joint: the upper temporal bone which is part of the cranium (skull), and the lower jaw bone called the mandible. The disorders of the TMJ are highly prevalent in both genders and all age groups. The TMJ pain can vary from mild to very severe depending upon the underlying cause. It can drastically affect the patient's quality of life and needs proper management by the oral physician.
