Аннотация: Oral route of drug administration is the most important method of administering drugs for systemic effects. Nevertheless, it is probable that at least 90% of all drugs used to produce systemic effects are administered by oral route. Drugs that are administered orally, solid oral dosage forms represent the preferred class of product. Whereas, tablets may be defined as the solid unit dosage form of medicament or medicaments with or without suitable diluents and prepared either by molding or by compression. Tablets are a unit dosage form, and they offer the greatest capabilities of all oral dosage forms for dose precision and the least content variability. They also lend themselves to certain special-release profile products, such as Sustained, Controlled, Enteric or Delayed-release products. Keeping all this in view, the present practical handbook has been written with two clear objectives, viz., (i) to enable upcoming Pharmacists i.e. Postgraduate and Undergraduate Pharmacy students, in developing and evaluating Tablet dosage forms; and (ii) to make them familiar with the art of using different Polymers, excipients, methods and techniques for the preparation of tablet dosage forms.
