Аннотация: After the Second World War, the world began to be shaped by two super powers; the United States and the Soviet Union. Under such circumstances, Turkey and United States embarked on a new stage in their relationship. The shaping of this relationship in political, economic and military terms resulted in the occurrence of new important events. The Soviet threat played an important role in the initial stages of the Turkish-American relationship. Relations were affected by a number of factors such as Turkey’s security concerns, their need for assistance and their ideology, and US concerns about national security. An economic and military relationship existed between Turkey and the United States during the Second World War with the lend lease aid programme, but this relationship was not specific enough or strong enough for both countries. The forging of a strong relationship between Turkey and the US began with the Truman doctrine and continued with the Marshal Plan and NATO, under which the Turkish-American relationship was improved until it reached its present day status.
