Аннотация: The aim of this study is to prepare matrix tablets of dexamethasone, that can manage the various factors-Patient compliances and conveniences, Manage time for administrating the drug, Reduce multiple doses ofdexamethasone, Desired therapeutic effect. The basic approach in development of matrix tablets is the use of co-processed diluents like micro crystalline cellulose (MCC), magnesium stearate, lactose etc and natural polymer like traganth gum provide slow disintegration of tablets after putting in oral cavity, thereby release the drug in stomach. The bioavailability of some drugs may be decreased due to absorption of drugs in saliva and also due to pregastric absorption of saliva containing dispersed drugs that pass down into the stomach. In this study I have chosen dexamethasone drug because it having half life of 4-6 hours and can be formulated as sustain type drug.Tablet formulation on the basis of optimized batch had 1.6% of dexamethasone with 98.4% excipients. In conclusion, it can be said that the studies were helpful in evolving sustain release or matrix tablets of dexamethasone.
