Аннотация: This book contains some findings of a research conducted on the novel “The Waiting Earth” written by Punyakante Wijenaike. Selected lines from the novel have been analyzed to arrive at the research findings. This book will be a valuable guide for a wide range of audience who are interested in literary studies related to Sri Lankan culture.While farming and living, Feudalistic setup, owning a land, love, social class and cast, belief of astrological prediction, marriage and its limitation, customs associated with the New Year festival, ideology of sexual intercourse, vulnerability, exaggeration of maturity, suspicion in the marriage life, authoritarianism, parallel between mother and daughter, believes in evil spirits and realization of betrayal have been taken as independent variables, victimization and conflicts have been taken as dependent variables in the study. The findings reveal that the majority of the independent variables have made the landless, innocence and poor men and women as victims in the novel whereas factors related to history, society and individuality were the leading motives for all these miseries in the fiction.<p style="text-align: justify;">This book contains some findings of a research conducted on the novel “The Waiting Earth” written by Punyakante Wijenaike.
