Аннотация: Man was in a search of ways to replace missing teeth for thousand years. Ancient Egyptians used tooth shaped shells and ivory to replace missing teeth. The Etruscans replaced missing teeth with artificial teeth carved from the bones of oxen. Modern Implant Dentistry began in the early 19th century. The introduction of endosseous dental implants as an option for restoring partially and fully edentulous patients has revolutionized dental treatment.Dental implant placement is not free of complications, as complications may occur at any stage. Careful analysis via imaging, precise surgical techniques and an understanding of the anatomy of the surgical area are essential in preventing complications. Prompt recognition of a developing problem and proper management are needed to minimize postoperative complications.Today, as the popularity of dental implants are increasing, studies are still carried out to document the nature of complications so that a dentist can avoid it and lead to more successful outcome of implant treatment. This book is an attempt to provide brief information and knowledge on some common dental implant complications.
