Аннотация: This book proposes the study of non-linearities, dispersion and their impact for high speed data rate signals in the optical communication network which provides a link between the transmitter and the receiver. There are different types of non-linearities in optical communication. They are Self phase modulation (SPM), Cross phase modulation, (XPM) Four wave mixing (FWM), etc. There is also a system proposed to reduce the effect of four wave mixing. It is an improved system design for four wave mixing. All these non-linearities are studied and their impact is tested on high speed data rate optical signal. Dispersion effect the data of the optical communication. The technique is used to reduce the dispersion effect. Dispersion compensating fiber (DCF) is used in the optical communication system. A communication system is implemented on the Optisystem and it is simulated to study the impact. The data is studied and result is shown that how does the non-linearities and dispersion disturb an optical communication between the transmitter and receiver. All this is done to analyse the performance of the system, so that it can give further more aspects of research.
