Аннотация: Dental caries has been a highly prevalent and costly disease in the world, representing the most common infectious disease in the pediatric population. Over the past 50 years, many changes have occurred in the development and availability of restorative materials for children. The daily practice of pediatric dentistry at the time of the formation of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry didn’t enjoy the numerous choices available in today’s practice. Primary teeth are essential not only for the normal development of jawbone and musculature but also for the guidance of eruption of permanent teeth and phonation, mastication and esthetic. Early and premature loss of primary teeth can lead to alteration in the eruption pathway of permanent teeth, development of aberrant habits etc. A pulpectomy is considered to be the choice of treatment. Materials used for filling of root canals in deciduous teeth should possess antibacterial properties, resorbable at the same rate as that of the tooth root, harmless to periapical tissues and to the developing permanent tooth bud. The aim of this book is to describe the various advanced restorative and obturating materials.
