Аннотация: Consumers must be empowered and what can be more empowering than the power of information? The Nutritional Information Panel on pre-packaged foods is a mechanism to educate consumers about the nutritional values contained in food products. Consumer awareness regarding nutritional information, their comprehension levels about the information on the panel, and the use of this information affecting consumers’ food purchase decisions are predominantly pertinent questions, especially in times when various lifestyle-related health risk factors are claiming lives. Overweight and obesity, having high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and food allergies demand careful and diligent selection of food. Nutrition figures as a key factor to lead a healthy and energetic life for them. The book aims to understand consumer awareness about contents present on the Nutritional Information Panel and nutrition and health claims by food companies of pre-packaged food items. The book is also focused on evaluating how consumers understand and use such information and the impact it has on their purchase decisions.
