It is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking. The primary danger comes from breathing in radon gas and its decay products, which can damage lung tissue and lead to the development of cancer cells over time.The level of radon in a specific area or building can vary depending on factors such as soil composition, geology, and ventilation. It is important to note that radon levels can be high in any type of building, including old or new homes, well-sealed or drafty homes, and homes with or without basements.So, eventually, testing for radon is the only way to determine if a building has elevated levels and then adopt relevant mitigation procedure.
