Аннотация: Pandit Nehru had a clear vision and understanding that to solve the problems of India , need to develop the scientific temper, scientific culture in India. For Nehru, science and technology was the most priority that can only help to build a strong nation. Before independence in 1935 Indian science congress he mentioned that to remove social and economic backward ness, superstitions beliefs, it was necessary to develop strong science and technology base in the country. Being a first prime minister of India, he proclaimed dams are the big temples of India, apart from neglecting all the environmental issues. Dams would help for agriculture development and boost village economy which directly or indirectly promote industrialisation in India. to building scientific and technological infrastructure he gave free hand to scientific communities and never interfere in the policy making or suggestions given by the scientists. As result first nuclear reactor in Asia was established in India, five Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs), National Physical Laboratory, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research were established.
