Аннотация: Pediatric Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a common sleep disorder that primarily affects children. It is characterized by recurrent instances of partial or complete upper airway obstruction during sleep, resulting in disrupted breathing and reduced oxygen levels in the blood. The leading cause of pediatric OSA is typically the enlargement of the tonsils and adenoids, although factors like obesity, craniofacial abnormalities, or neuromuscular conditions can also contribute. Children with OSA often exhibit symptoms such as loud snoring, frequent breathing pauses during sleep, restless nights, and daytime sleepiness. If left untreated, pediatric OSA can lead to various health complications, including developmental delays, cardiovascular problems, and behavioral issues. Diagnosis involves a comprehensive assessment, including medical history, physical examination, and sleep studies. Treatment options range from adenotonsillectomy and continuous positive airway pressure therapy to weight management and orthodontic appliances, with regular follow-up appointments essential for monitoring progress. Timely intervention is crucial for improving a child's quality of life.
