Minor Oral Surgical Procedures in Pediatric Dentistry.

      Аннотация: Oral surgical procedures in children are endeavors that demand expertise and skill. Minor oral surgical procedures performed on paediatric patients involves a number of special considerations like behaviour management, growth and development of a child, developing dentition, preoperative evaluation, anaesthetic considerations and postoperative care. Many oral surgical procedures in several ways are similar to adults except for a smaller working area in children and thus the fundamental principles of surgery, asepsis and antisepsis should be involved. Surgical procedure is planned depending upon the patient’s age and systemic health. There are certain anatomic and physiologic differences in children such as bone is more cancellous in nature with a presence of developing tooth bud, wound healing and remodeling capacity is more faster in children. Patients with underlying diseases like cardiovascular disease, bleeding disorders, epilepsy, should be given particular attention and all necessary preventive measures should be taken, in cooperation with the physician treating the patients, in order to avoid potential complications during and after the surgical procedure.
