Аннотация: English teachers in Algeria are often in doubt about the ̳” what” and the “how” to teach because most universities do not provide them with specialized training in how to meet the needs of students especially in the first practices. Thus, this pedagogical guide aims to assist novice teachers of English as a Second /Foreign Language ESL/EFL to fulfill their tasks and be effective in their instruction.The targeted four English skills are speaking, writing, reading, and listening. In communication and especially in communicative English each skill demands equal importance. The discussion in this guide reveals that since the objective of teaching English is to enable the learners to use it as a means of communication, the program needs to be focused the productive as well as receptive language skills. To achieve the goal and to get perfect learning of the target language, it is imperative for teachers to suit the materials, activities, and teaching techniques with the students’ interests, needs, and language skills levels.
