Аннотация: The presence of economic factors, specifically, the availability of rent from primary commodity exports is the strongest and highest risk driver of civil war and its perpetuation. This book discusses the effectiveness of the military approach to managing resource based conflict perceived to be a more effective path to compelling the actors to peace and curtail the financial opportunities they gain from natural resources. While guns can serve to loot, if rationally used, guns can also be the best ever type of conflict management. What is the role of natural resources in the persistence of the Eastern Congo conflict? Who are the victims, witnesses, and perpetrators? The first book to present the success of the war generation of the peace enforcement mission with the United Nations, its prospects, and possible challenges.
